Ignite — 9/20/24

The American painter, art instructor and host of Joy of Painting, Bob Ross, said: “We don’t make mistakes, just happy little accidents.” Got an opinion about these “accidents”?

  • In #3, I love the juxtaposition between the seemingly demure older woman enjoying her hobby of painting at the oceanside, and then what she is actually painting.

And, I laughed AGAIN out loud when I saw #4 for the first time in a while. Those eyes, right? . . . especially compared to the painter’s eyes.

  • I think the painter in cartoon #1 and cartoon #2 are the same person, and that cartoon #2 is what the painter in cartoon #1 must resort to to salvage their perceived poverty of talent . . . and time.

  • Cartoon #1 is particularly poignant for me. A few moments after I first saw this cartoon some time ago, I switched out the label on the vertical, “PAINT” axis for the label, “TELLING MY STORY.” Now there is even less time.

    • Hey! Thanks for the laugh a few days late! For whatever cyber reason, this showed up in my “trash” and not my inbox.

For me, the left axis in #2 could read “LIFE” as it is flying by ….

  • They are all good. It really isn’t funny when you switch out “TELLING MY STORY” However I agree with laughing out loud to cartoon #3. Thanks for the laughs.

  • I laughed out loud for #3 and #4, but #4 wins. There is something about seeing the faces first, and then the artist at the window. It’s not immediate.

#2 gets honorable mention because the artist is about to “attack” the canvas. A phrase used when it comes to painters.
