Today, a quote about cats from Hippolyte Taine is featured on the home page of Spark and Spitfire. Like me, you probably don’t know that Taine was a French historian, critic and philosopher. He was also the chief theoretical influence on French naturalism and one of the first practitioners of historicist criticism.
Huh? Who cares? I want to know how many cats he had.

Check out the look of the cat in cartoon #4 who is pondering a line from William Blake’s, “Tyger.” That is one self-satisfied beast.
Cartoon #1 is in some respects my strategy for dealing with the present administration.😞
I just figured out who also carries with him the same expression as the cat in cartoon #4: J.D. Vance.
Cats always make me smile. And so do you! I’m up to 5 cats again (with my 4 dogs) so lots of opportunities. 😁
NINE pets! Well, blessings on your head, Neola. Pets add so much to life—expanding and stretching it on their own terms most of the time.
I haven’t posted cartoons about cats since Jem left this sweet world last November 20. One of my proprietary cartoon files is devoted entirely to cats and dogs. Most make me LOL.😂
Ah to be a cat!
Preach it, sister!❣️💪🙏
Yikes sorry I missed yesterday. Cartoon #1 had me laughing out loud. Yes a good way to cope with life: take a nap. Love the wisdom of cats.
