#4 – good luck kid. I mean it, good luck! I’ve done my tiny part but didn’t get too far. And I would really really like to have a fairy godmother.
#4 for me, too, Neola. I tried to do my part when I was working for corporate America. For example, one client built a new office building and installed a tampon dispenser in only one women’s restroom on the third floor of their new five-story building. Signs were put up in the women’s restrooms on other floors telling women where the ONE tampon dispenser was. I printed up signs that said the following and affixed them to the inside of every bathroom stall door in both the women’s AND men’s restrooms on every floor:
“If men had menstrual periods, tampons would be available in every stall in every restroom on every floor FREE OF CHARGE.”
Within a week, every women’s restroom had a tampon dispenser, not free of charge, however. Yeah, a fairy godmother can only do so much. Also the Good Witch of the North.
I have to confess that every time I’m in a social situation like a party, I try to pull off the good witch’s advice (cartoon #3) and get the hell out of there.
On Thursday afternoon, I purged my proprietary cartoon file, tossing about a third of its contents. I was stunned by how many cartoons were inspired by “The Wizard of Oz.” Is it that popular with cartoonists . . . or is it just me?
