The guy in #1 and #2 appears to be the same guy. The women are different, though it may be the same woman who has dyed her hair to see if — let’s call him, Clive — will notice. Absent or present, he’s getting some action.
There are worse things than your partner bringing a harmonica to bed (#3). It could have been a banjo.
Also, that guitar in cartoon #4 could have a banjo. Small mercies.

In cartoon #2, did you notice the coffee mug with a heart on the table underneath the lamp? Do you think Clive placed it there or did his partner?

“EARNEST” never came to mind when I ponder #2, but I see it now. You understood it and I was next.😏
Both #2 and #3 made me laugh. Although #2 does seem like it could be said in real life at some point.
