Last November, former Energy Secretary Rick Perry praised the Current Occupant of the Oval Office as “God’s Chosen One.” Wonder what God thinks of that . . .

  • When I created this post yesterday, the question of the Democrats NOT having enough votes for witnesses was still up in the air.

I woke up this morning to headlines that the “Chosen One” will likely be acquitted today. In the spirit of the second cartoon:

WE WILL HAVE HELL TO PAY.

  • I hope you are right about November.

p.s. That first cartoon made me spit my coffee.

    • I hope I’m right, too, Kelly, but at the moment, I feel very discouraged about it and a bunch of other shit. The winter blues — it always kicks the asses of those of us who struggle with serious depression. The acquittal of Trump without hearing a key witness or documents doesn’t help, either. I stayed in bed for a while this morning, trying to garner the courage to get up and face this dark day, this dark time, this dark country. There is no escape.

  • The last cartoon strikes home.

Kelly, you and I are in agreement. The first one made me laugh out loud.

  • With Populism on the rise, I feel we are not alone as a country who has crazy shit going on with our “leaders”. And that is what makes this even more difficult, there is nowhere to escape the madness. This morning, I wondered how much social media has contributed to the crowd mentality.

    Most people aren’t paying attention.

  • This morning my New Testament reading just happened to be the following (Acts 12:20-13):
“20 Now Herod[a] was angry with the people of Tyre and Sidon. So they came to him in a body; and after winning over Blastus, the king’s chamberlain, they asked for a reconciliation, because their country depended on the king’s country for food. 21 On an appointed day Herod put on his royal robes, took his seat on the platform, and delivered a public address to them. 22 The people kept shouting, “The voice of a god, and not of a mortal!” 23 And immediately, because he had not given the glory to God, an angel of the Lord struck him down, and he was eaten by worms and died.”

I know we are admonished to pray for our leaders, and I have tried, God knows, but I found myself wondering, after reading this passage, if maybe it isn’t time to pray that God would strike COOO, in order to save the soul of our nation, maybe even COOO’s soul as well. I don’t know the answer to my question, but, in all honesty, I do find myself praying this deep in my soul.
